  As Jacques opened his eyes, Mina was standing above him.

  “Jacques, you wanted to rest for three hours and time’s up.”

  “Thank you, Mina. I need to feed again. Death wasn’t exactly thrilled to let me go so early.”

  Mina suspected as much. “Would you like blood or energy?”

  He smiled at the young woman before him. While he wanted blood in the worst way, it wouldn’t be from a donor. As of late, his tastes had changed and only Jolie or Flynn’s essence would do.

  “Energy, please.”

  Taking her hand in his, he greedily gulped down all she had to offer. With each wave of warmth, Jacques could feel it filling his body and chasing away death’s cold claws. Releasing her, he sent Mina on her way.

  When she was gone, he focused on his mate. Jacques wasn’t one hundred percent sure that he would be able to wake her, since she had depleted everything she had.

  Well, he would try.

  Leaning over her, he beckoned her to him, “Jolie, I need you, mon amour,” he whispered before pressing his lips to hers. With all he had, Jacques sent the energy into her body to tease her away from death.

  There was a tiny whisper of her against his mind, and he knew Jolie was going to come back to him, if only briefly.

  “Jacques,” she gasped, struggling to escape the darkness which held her captive.

  Knowing what she would want and need, Jacques swung her up into his arms. At the side of the tub, he checked the temperature before stepping into the water. As he slowly lowered them into the heat, Jolie let out a sigh. After waking from death, the feel of warmth cocooning them would make the transition easier for her.

  “Jacques, how long have I been gone?” she whispered, the panic already settling in. The last time she lost this kind of control, she nearly hurt him.

  “Not long, mon amour. Maybe twelve hours at the most. You were only with death long enough to heal and feel better.” Kissing her cheek, he tucked Jolie against his body to support her.

  “Did I hurt anyone?” she asked in a soft whisper.

  “Just your own precious body my love, and we’ll be talking about that later. Flynn and I don’t like how you caused yourself harm.”

  Jolie refused to say anything.

  So be it. Her silence urged him on.

  “Jolie, this was Genevieve’s fault, and we’ll cause her immense suffering and pain for this. I swear to you, bébé. Don’t let this worry you.” He kissed her forehead, the anger brewing deep inside him that she was blaming herself over any of this.

  “I know, Jacques, I know.” She closed her eyes and enjoyed his strength. It was nice to lean on him while she was weak.

  “Jolie, my love, while you were resting, we received a call from Delina’s family. They wish to meet with us.”

  Jolie let out a sigh. With everything that had happened, she’d forgotten about them. “Not here, Jacques, please. I can’t risk our family and give the betrayer more leverage against us.”

  “Flynn and I assumed as much.” He told her about Mambo and his conversation. “Our plan is to use that for the meeting.”

  “Remind me to thank her when I see her next time.”

  “Oui, mon amour, she is quite delightful once you get to know her,” he said, trying to lighten her mood.

  Jolie was already fond of her for helping the family.

  “Where’s our Flynn?”

  “He’s checking out the property, making sure it’s a safe location. He should be home soon.” From the look on her face, Jacques knew what she was thinking.

  “Don’t worry. He took Chloe with him in case something happened. Right now, he’s safe with her. I’m sure she’ll have everything prepared, and to your standard.”

  “So, he’ll be home soon?”

  “I’d imagine so, oui,” he replied, as she turned in the tub to face him. Immediately, his pulse quickened and his heart skipped in his chest. “Why do you ask, mon amour?”

  “I’m hungry, Jacques. In fact, I’m ravenous. I need to be fed.” At her words, his body instinctively reacted. As mates, it would always be this way. When Jolie craved, he would willingly supply.

  Jacques watched her silently.

  “Will you feed me, Jacques?” She ran her nails up his thighs, and he groaned in absolute pleasure.

  “Anything for you, Mistress,” he whispered, as her nails left a path across his chest. “I’ll give you anything that you desire.”

  And he would.

  “I want you, Jacques,” Jolie whispered, leaning into his body to lap at his neck, and then earlobe. The predator in her was begging for release, and the scent of Jacques’s blood beneath his skin was maddening.

  “Jolie,” he murmured, as she continued to lick the water droplets from his throat.

  She was lost in the sensation. There was something primal about her mate and the act of feeding with him. Nothing called to her more in the world, than the smell of his skin and blood.

  Okay, maybe one other thing.

  Flynn’s.

  Jacques moved his neck so she could have more access to his flesh. On baited breath, he waited to feel the glorious feeling of her teeth sinking into his body. When Jolie swirled patterns on his neck with her tongue, his body tightened in response. Jacques scarcely heard the words she whispered into his ear as she teased that part of him too.

  “Please,” he whispered, longing for her to just do it. The need to have her drinking from him was pulling him under and threatening to drown him.

  Jolie gave him what he wanted.

  Sort of.

  Lightly, she nipped his lobe, just barely breaking the surface.

  A low growl emanated deep in his chest, the beast in him barely contained.

  Jolie loved how he shook beneath her, and she took it one step further, by moving from straddling his hips to wrapping her legs around his waist.

  The press of heated flesh did exactly what she planned.

  He moaned.

  Releasing his ear, Jolie headed to his mouth to play some more. She teased his lips with light kisses, and when he opened for her, she bit his bottom lip, drawing blood. Sucking on the plumpness, and then deepening the kiss, Jolie knew the taste of his blood in her mouth would fire off every hormone in his body.

  “Jolie,” he mumbled against her lips, feeling all control slipping.

  “More,” she replied.

  Diving forcefully into her mouth, it felt almost like he was trying to climb into her body. His hands slid up her flesh, refusing to let her move away.

  Jolie pulled away from his lips and left a trail of kisses to his shoulder. Her tongue teased little circles into his flesh, but before he could adjust to the feeling and regain his balance, she bit him again. Nothing was more spectacular than when she could make his entire body shake.

  The sound that emanated from him was between a breathy gasp and groan.

  Jolie took two sips from his body and pulled her fangs out again, teasing the beast to the surface. Once reaching his neck, she continued her assault, licking his pulse.

  He was getting frustrated. Her little teasing nips were making him want to drag her from their bath and take her right there on the tub’s ledge. Jacques struggled for control as he allowed her to use his body in her little teasing game.

  “I love the way you taste,” she whispered, following it up with some erotic pictures in his head.

  “Please, Jolie…,” he begged in a hoarse whisper.

  Jolie ignored his pleading and continued tormenting him. If it was possible, she could feel Jacques become harder and more excited beneath her.

  The prospect of what was to come excited her. It wouldn’t be long before he was completely undone.

  She moved her head as if to break the skin but closed her mouth so she merely kissed him. She listened to him groan and thrash in the water as if her teasing was painful.

  At his bobbing adam's apple, Jolie nibbled provocatively around it, teasing him unmercifully as Jacques swall
owed in anticipation.

  “Jolie, I’m warning you.”

  Instead of taking him seriously, she laughed.

  It was all he could take. Before she could protest, Jacques was out of the water and moving them through their quarters to their bed.

  Now, would come his fun.

  Jacques had the look of a feral animal ready to attack, but he was out of luck. If he thought he was going to get relief on his terms, he was sadly mistaken. Jolie pushed him off her and enjoyed the startled look on his face.

  “Jolie,” he said, unsure what to do. Never had she denied him by pushing him away.

  “Mistress,” she corrected, enjoying the way his centuries of control retuned as training kicked in.

  He froze.

  “Lay down,” she ordered, rolling him to his stomach.

  Jacques didn't fight or question her authority. Jolie was his mate, but if she was calling herself ‘mistress’ she had plans - truly wicked ones where he would no doubt be lost in such erotic pleasure.

  A smart vampyre would go along for the ride.

  Jolie ran her hands down his beautiful back and reveled at how each muscle rippled at her touch. Suddenly, she had an overwhelming need to run her tongue over every line and groove, tasting him. Perching herself across his lower body, Jolie lapped at the heated flesh to drive him mad.

  “Please,” it was all he could get out, other than her name. “Jolie.”

  It was too late.

  Laid out before her for the tasting was one of the finest specimens of vampyric man ever.

  Jolie was almost giddy with all the prospects.

  “Remember when you thought holding me down and tickling me was a good idea?” she asked, running her fingers down his back, slowly increasing the pressure of her nails to lightly score his flesh.

  “Mon Dieu!” he hissed, trying to move.

  “No, Jacques, you won’t even try to stop me. Your mistress demands it. This is your punishment.”

  He had no choice.

  Jacques knew he was screwed.

  Adding tongue to the torment, Jolie lustfully licked across his tense body. It brought her joy as she enjoyed the opportunity to torment her mate. Oh, the men in her life may have been stronger than she was the other day, but Jolie wasn’t some child who couldn’t play the game.

  She knew him very well.

  “I intend to do to you what was done to me. Maybe next time, you’ll listen when I tell you not to tickle me.”

  His muffled moan was more than enough.

  Jolie smiled, continuing to lap long lines all the way up his back. When his flesh quivered, she was wild with need herself. Stopping in the middle of his back, at the spot that she knew made him weak, Jolie bit down, hard. The sensitivity of the spot was so great that Jacques’s body actually bowed, and he shouted in French, begging for more.

  Well, who was she to deny him?

  Jolie sucked once or twice, and then slowly drew her fangs from his flesh. She listened to Jacques breathing hard as she continued her way up his spine. Her hands traced intricate patterns all over his flesh, cruelly teasing him. She stopped three inches up and waited until he was focused on her. To help him out, she ran her teeth back and forth over the sensitive flesh.

  “Mon Dieu,” he whispered. It was no sooner out of his lips when she bit down again. It was done with such force that his body bucked against the bed, causing him to beg for mercy. “Please, let me take you, I’m desperate.”

  “No,” she replied, keeping her fangs buried in his flesh. As soon as she started drinking from his body, he writhed so much that she almost toppled over. Freeing him, Jacques was shaking so bad that she leaned down to his ear and whispered very softly, “Did that hurt?”

  “Yesssssssss,” he hissed.

  “Do you want me to stop, Jacques?”

  “No! Mon Dieu, no! Please don’t ever stop!” he pleaded, knowing that he craved everything she had to offer him.

  Jolie smiled wickedly, figuring that would be his answer. This wasn’t the first time she’d had him in this position, and it wouldn’t likely be the last.

  As she reversed the path down his body licking a trail to the base of his spine, Jolie wantonly stroked the flesh on his hip. Immediately, her mouth went there, and she nibbled on the muscle, causing him catch his breath.

  With the way he tensed, there was no doubt that he was dying to know what she planned next.

  Jacques could barely breathe.

  His heart was thundering in his chest as his mate tormented his body. It was painful, erotic, and perfect all at once. Each time she buried her fangs in the nerves of his back, it was like the mother of all orgasms ripping through him. The only difference was, there was no relief after the fact. Each one built more and more, until he couldn’t take another second of the intense pain and pleasure.

  When Jolie finished with lapping at his hip and ribs, she returned to the center of his back. Instinctually, the muscles in his legs and ass tightened in anticipation.

  It gave him away.

  Jolie moved her fingers to his shoulder, scraping her nail there to simulate her fangs. When he relaxed, thinking she’d moved on, Jolie struck.

  The colors exploded behind his eyes as everything around him ruptured in sound and color. Jacques was expecting the teeth to pierce his shoulder, and he should have known better than to relax. With each suck from her mouth, there was another layer of pain surrounded by so many layers of pleasure. If she had done this to a human, like Flynn, he would have been paralyzed, but to an immortal, it felt so damn good.

  She sucked once.

  Twice.

  And by the third time, Jacques was promising her anything she wanted. Jolie growled and the vibrations must have felt damn good, because Jacques screamed her name and bucked beneath her fangs.

  Control was rapidly slipping as he fought to hold onto it. When he was finally able to breathe again, there was no turning back. Jacques teetered precariously on the edge.

  Jolie was satiated as she pulled her mouth away from his spine to run her nails down his ass and legs.

  “Have you learned your lesson yet?”

  “Oui, Mistress, I have.”

  Jolie licked the spot that she had struck the first time, and he shuddered. There was urgency in Jacques’s voice, but Jolie chose to ignore it. “You knew this day would come. What kind of mistress would I be if I didn’t enact payback when it’s needed?”

  “I do believe that Flynn was equally…” He never got to finish his sentence.

  Jolie buried her fangs into his lower back, and he jerked beneath her lips. His body bucked against the bed as the blood pooled into her mouth. It was time to feed from her mate’s body to quench her hunger.

  Now, it was about drinking until she was content.

  Jacques hissed as he desperately fought to win control of his impending orgasm. His body was alive with a million nerve endings, all firing at the same time.

  What he wanted was to roll with her and find his pleasure buried in Jolie.

  As she continued sucking, the room was tinged with the scent of blood and desire. It was almost too much to bear.

  Instantly, Jolie knew something was incredibly wrong. Pulling her fangs from Jacques’s body, worry filled her. Never had she experienced him closing her out of his mind like that.

  “Jacques?” she ask
ed, not sure what to do.

  The minute she gave him an opening, he struck.

  Jolie found herself in the same position he had just been in, only with a much larger vampyre pinning her down. He was growling in her ear and breathing incredibly heavy. Jolie was well aware that she had gone a little too far. His taut form was pressed against the length of her body, with no hope of her escape. Jacques’s throbbing erection was pressed to her heating flesh, as he waited her out.

  “Mon amour, are you okay?” she whispered, unable to move.

  He said nothing.

  Just the idea of what Jacques might have in store for her covered Jolie’s body with goose bumps and wave after wave of anticipation.

  Jacques could hear her talking to him, but the words were lost in the red haze of lust and need. At that moment, his only thought was to take what was his.

  She was his mate.
